Why Aren’t Gazans Receiving the Humanitarian Aid They Need Right Now? (Guest: Mark Biltz)

Pastor and author Mark Biltz discusses how neither Hamas nor Israel seem to be doing these people any good when it comes to receiving assistance.

As Ramadan begins, there seems to be anything but peace in Gaza, particularly with the ongoing fight between Hamas and Israel. But something very few seem to realize is just how much people are suffering from this fight.

Per this report from The Jerusalem Post, a humanitarian crisis is taking place, with a number of needed supplies going scarce between Hamas taking their share and Israel doing very little to distribute the rest on the Gaza Strip.

The United States has tried to fill the void with an array of airdropped meals, as well as the construction of a floating pier for distribution. However, Israel believes Hamas could be running interference with this as well, potentially reselling goods to their own people.

“In the last few days, we have only had a few trucks carrying food items, but these trucks are not allowed to enter Gaza City at this time,” Amjad Shawa, director of the Palestinian NGOs Network, told The Media Line. “This is a big catastrophe we are witnessing at this time. There are 2.3 million people, most of whom are children, women, elders, and injured people who need food and have lost their income and resources.”

So what happens now? Joining us now to discuss this further is Pastor Mark Biltz, an author and the founder and Senior Pastor of El Shaddai Ministries in Washington State. His experience should prove useful in this conversation. Welcome, Mark.

Q&A:

  1. What do you think about the humanitarian crisis that’s taking place in the Gaza Strip right now?
  2. Who do you think should be taking more blame on this matter – Hamas or Israel? It sounds like Hamas may be the likely party, but what do you think?
  3. Could things potentially get worse along the Gaza Strip if the millions of needy citizens aren’t able to receive the supplies they need?
  4. The U.S. has been trying to play a part in supporting these people, but it sounds like more needs to be done. What can Israel do, you think?
  5. Where do you see the Israel/Hamas war going in the months ahead? Will the situation get worse before it gets better?
  6. You discuss something called the Tribulation quite often. Tell us more about it, and when you think it might take place.
  7. We understand we can see your sermons live online. Where can those interested go for further information?
