The spokesman for the group explains why the group is fighting back over the ATF’s “Universal Registration Rule.”
In just a matter of days, the Biden administration is set to pass a new rule put in place by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) that would implement a “Universal Registration Rule,” requiring background checks on the private sales of firearms.
But before the rule goes into effect on May 20th, several groups – including the Gun Owners of America – have vowed to take action.
With that, it is working alongside Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, along with three other states, to filed a lawsuit that challenges the controversial rule, believing it violates the rights of private gun owners.
“Not only is the Biden Administration hellbent on disarming the public, they also don’t want to suffer a humiliating defeat in court right before the 2024 election,” the group noted in a statement.
Joining us now to discuss this further is Stephen Willeford, the spokesman for the Gun Owners of America. You may recall Willeford being the “hero with a gun” with the Sutherland Springs situation in 2017, in which he’s co-authored a book. His expertise on gun rights make him an ideal interviewee for this subject.
