What’s the Real Purpose For the New China Committee In the House of Congress? (Guest: Nan Su)

The Epoch Times investigative journalist takes a closer look at what the newly formed committee might be looking into.

Following a turbulent battle to get a Speaker of the House appointed, Congress appears to be moving forward on a new initiative – a committee that will take a closer at the actions of China.

Both Republicans and Democrats came to some sort of agreement in regards to losing trust for the country, especially with all that’s happening with its growing COVID cases. But it goes deeper than that, according to Fox News.

“We spent decades passing policies that welcomed China into the global system,” said newly elected Kevin McCarthy. “In return, China has exported oppression, aggression and anti-Americanism. Today, the power of its military and economy are growing at the expense of freedom and democracy worldwide.”

“There is bipartisan consensus that the era of trusting communist China is over.”

But there are questions surrounding what the true motivation of the committee will be, especially with the GOP involved. Here to talk to us about the matter is The Epoch Times investigative reporter Nan Su. He has written several pieces talking about the state of China and the CCP, and his expertise is certainly welcome in this matter.

Q&A:

  1. What do you think are the big reasons that Congress has put together this committee? Is it political, economic or perhaps something else?
  2. Do you think there is concern over China’s military power? A recent report did indicate that the Chinese Navy has surpassed that of the U.S. in terms of battleships.
  3. Should there also be concern with the presence of the CCP in the U.S., like with a specifically set police station in New York or what recently happened with an exhibit in California?
  4. Could history also be playing a part in the forming of this committee? The Los Angeles Times did recently report that there have been 80 million deaths caused by the CCP since 1949.
  5. Are there also concerns over population and technology? Or is this more about the military might and political power of China?
  6. What do you think the overall goals of the China committee should be? Is it a matter of gauging how much of a threat could be, or looking into deeper aspects of what makes the CCP tick?
  7. Speaking of what’s going on with China, you recently contributed to a new Epoch Times documentary called The Final WarTell us more about it and why it’s such a compelling subject with everything that’s happening right now.
  8. Where can we learn more about you and see your work over on The Epoch Times?
