What About the Widows and Orphans In Israel?

Genesis 123 Foundation founder and author Jonathan Feldstein discusses the survivors left in devastation from the ongoing attacks between Israel and Hamas.

The ongoing fight between Israel and Hamas continues to rage on, with hundreds of soldiers and innocent people dying from it. And what’s more, it’s leaving a trail of devastation for the survivors as well.

“Last Monday, the IDF announced the death of five more soldiers, all reservists. In all cases but one, they were married with children,” explained Jonathan Feldstein, founder of the Genesis 123 Foundation. “One was recently engaged.”

He continued, “Three days ago, seven more soldiers were killed. Yesterday, two more. It struck me that there are now several new widows, as many as 30 new orphans, and a woman engaged to the man she now eulogized. That was just in three days. There are now hundreds of orphans and dozens of widows.”

While Feldstein appreciates the support going out to soldiers in an effort to keep them safe, “we also need to do more to help (widows and orphans) with the long-term trauma. Some of the children are too young and will not remember their fathers. But the trauma will be with them for years, maybe forever.”

In an effort to provide support, the Genesis 123 Foundation is working with organizations to provide counseling of the survivors of the Nova music festival, amongst other incidents where many people were slaughtered, and for at-risk youth. “What the survivors witnesses and experienced have scarred them forever.”

Feldstein joins us now to discuss this new initiative.
