New Kind of Repo Man: Guest Available

Wealth Repo Man: Debt Surges as Creditors Eye America’s Inheritance Jackpot

America is heading toward the largest transfer of wealth in history, but millions of families could lose ground just as that money changes hands. Dr. Michael C. Grayson, founder of the Credit and Debt Management Institute (CDMI), is warning that old debts, collection claims, and foreclosure risks could threaten families’ financial futures unless they prepare now. He is available to discuss the issue and the upcoming Kingdom Wealth Summit at KWSTour.com.

The financial warning signs are hard to ignore. America’s national debt surpassed $40 trillion in August, household debt stands near $18.8 trillion, and credit-card balances have reached a record $1.26 trillion. Meanwhile, foreclosure filings climbed 21% nationwide in the first half of 2026. In Georgia, where the Kingdom Wealth Summit launches its seven-city tour October 30–31, foreclosure filings surged 52% year-over-year.

At the same time, an estimated $124 trillion is projected to change hands through 2048, including $105 trillion going to heirs. But will families actually get to keep the wealth they inherit or will it fall prey to a new kind of Repo man? Grayson warns that collection claims, outstanding judgments, and other financial complications can threaten inherited assets, depending on the circumstances and applicable state law.

The provocative question for listeners: Could the Great Wealth Transfer become the Great Wealth Repossession? Could the new Repo man move from cars to wealth?

Grayson can explain how so-called zombie debt repo man can resurface after years of silence, the critical differences between a deceased person’s debts and an heir’s own obligations, and what consumers should understand before responding to debt collectors. He will also discuss practical strategies for strengthening credit and working toward becoming collection-proof, judgment-proof, and foreclosure-proof.

A retired educator and credit expert, Grayson founded CDMI and developed the Grayson Credit Velocity™ methodology. He translates complex credit and debt issues into practical steps ordinary families can take to better understand their financial standing and protect their assets.

The Kingdom Wealth Summit brings that mission directly to communities, combining Grayson’s financial-literacy curriculum with on-site credit report reviews, loan officers offering prequalification assessments, and potential funding pathways for eligible participants. After opening in Atlanta, the tour is scheduled to visit Dallas–Fort Worth, New York, Charlotte, Washington, D.C., and Houston before concluding at Stanford Graduate School of Business on January 9, 2027.

Grayson is available for phone, remote, or in-studio interviews to discuss the looming wealth transfer, the debt risks families may overlook, and steps consumers can take to prepare before financial trouble strikes.
