Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin Just Knocked Down Over 20 Ridiculous Bills From the Democratic State Legislature (Guest: Michael Letts)

The law enforcement veteran and InVest USA founder discusses the bills, including one that would make illegal immigrants into police.

At a time when some people are unsure how to treat the ongoing Border Crisis, GOP Gov. Glenn Youngkin made it clear – he wants to protect the people of Virginia.

Per a new report from Fox Business, Youngkin nixed 22 bills from the Democratic-majority state legislature, with some of them suggesting outlandish changes for the state. These include weakening criminal penalties, as well as one that suggested making illegal immigrants into police officers.

“Some of these people… said that you could simply become a law enforcement officer. Excuse me, we don’t even know who you are. We don’t know your intentions. You could have good intentions, but we don’t know that,” Virginia Republican Lt. Gov. Winsome Sears recently explained on an appearance on The Big Money Show.

Sears also noted that Youngkin’s vetoes were all about “the protection of the residents of Virginia” and to assure that immigrants coming into the state “mean us well and not ill.”

But why would the Democratic-majority state legislature suggest such ridiculous bills in the first place?

Joining us now to discuss this further is Michael Letts, a law enforcement veteran with over 30 years of experience under his belt. Letts is President, Founder and CEO of InVest USA, an organization that provides bulletproof vests to police officers through various charitable groups and sponsorships. His expertise in all things law and order make him a welcome guest on this show.

Q&A:

  1. What do you think the Democratic-majority state legislature was thinking when they put some of these bills together? Especially with ones surrounding illegal immigrants?
  2. Is it clear that Youngkin made the right move vetoing these bills? Is it fair to be more concerned about the citizens of his state than those coming into it?
  3. Could others, like President Joe Biden, learn from Youngkin’s actions? Especially since he’s standing up for the people?
  4. Could the state legislature possibly try to re-draft these bills in the hopes of getting them passed? Or will they simply move on to other ones?
  5. Will the Border Crisis be a major topic when it comes to the forthcoming 2024 Presidential Election?
  6. You’re the creator of InVest USA, an organization that provides bulletproof vests to police officers across a number of programs. Tell us more about it.
  7. Where can we learn more about InVest USA, and how those interested can help their fellow officers, especially in their time of need?
