Violence Between Israelis and Palestinians Escalates with American Murdered (Guest: David Rubin)

Former Mayor of Shiloh Israel David Rubin talks about the tragic attacks, and where the situation may go from here.

Things have been uneasy in West Bank following  the weekend’s events.

It all began on Sunday when two Israeli settlers were shot dead by a Palestinian, followed by an Israeli settlers retaliating with  attacks on Palestinian villages. And in the latest tragedy, an Israeli American, Elan Ganeles, was shot and killed  near Jericho.

Previously, Israeli Defense Forces returned fire were fired upon , only to see them flee when they returned fire.

Sadly, it doesn’t look like tensions between the two groups will ease anytime soon, even as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu attempted to call for peace.

How much worse could the situation get from here? With us now to address this further is David Rubin, who previously served as the mayor of Shiloh and is  the author of seven books, as well as the founder of Shiloh Israel Children’s Fund. His expertise should prove quite useful in this matter.

Q&A:

  1. How bad is the situation between Israelis and Palestinians right now? Some believe it’s the worst that it’s been in over two decades.
  2. Some people believe the blame falls on Netanyahu based on “unrest” in Israel. But where do you think the problem truly lies?
  3. Where do you see the situation going in the months ahead? Could we see even more deaths come from the battle between Israelis and Palestinians?
  4. We’ve heard about how this violence is spreading to other cities, including Jericho and other areas along West Bank. How much further do you believe it will spread?
  5. Do you see any resolution to this problem? Or could it be too big to resolve at this point? Is there anything you would suggest Netanyahu could do?
  6. Do you believe Netanyahu might take this more personally following what happened with his wife at a hair salon?
  7. Could this conflict possibly affect other countries? Including the United States?
  8. Where can we learn more about you and your work with Shiloh Israel Children?
