INTRO: As Israelis celebrate Jerusalem Day, marking 54 years since the reunification of the Holy City, Arabs are rioting on the Temple Mount and attacking Jews in the streets of Israel’s capital. Is it any wonder that many on the Right are protesting this arrangement?

Helping sort this out for us is David Rubin, former mayor of Shiloh, Israel, a native New Yorker who has been living in Israel for thirty years. His latest book is Confronting Radicals: What America Can Learn from Israel.

Q&A:

• You say that what is being reported in some quarters as “clashes” in Jerusalemare actually violent riots. Why are these riots being called protests?

• Riots usually have a purpose. That being said, why are Arabs rioting in Jerusalem?

• While all this is going on, Naftali Bennett and Yair Lapid are negotiating to form another unity government of the Left and the Right, possibly including the Arab Ra’am party which openly supports the riots and the Hamas terrorist organization. Wouldn’t such a coalition tie Israel’s ability to preserve public order?

• In your book, Confronting Radicals: What America Can Learn From Israel, you refer to Israel’s successes and mistakes in combatting such violence. How should the Israeli police be instructed to confront these Muslim radicals?

• What lessons can we learn from Israel’s challenges that can help us in confronting the radical Left that attacks policemen with bricks and Molotov cocktails, loots stores, burns American flags and Bibles, and vandalizes monuments to American heroes?

• Where can people find your new book: Confronting Radicals: What America Can Learn From Israel?

MORE: for longer interviews with hosts wanting to focus on the growing threat from radicals:

The growing surge in radicalism in America exploded in the spring of 2020 with the Portland Antifa riots—and has not let up. The radical Left is exploiting everything that can be politicized from race to police shootings to states strengthening election laws. Along the way, communities—and minority owned business, have been decimated in some of the nation’s largest cities.

Radicalism, the rising tide of socialism, and capitulating to America’s enemies has been embraced by the Democrat party and the Biden Administration. Chaos and anarchy will gradually morph into totalitarianism, leading to the removal of individual rights and freedoms.

In his new book, Confronting Radicals: What America Can Learn from Israel, David Rubin discusses the danger of the radical left in America and what we can learn from the Israeli experience.

BIO: David Rubin, former Mayor of Shiloh Israel, is the author of the new book, Confronting Radicals: What America Can Learn from Israel. Rubin is the founder and president of Shiloh Israel Children’s Fund, established after he and his then three-year-old son were wounded in a terror attack.
