Chicago police officers gave Mayor Lori Lightfoot a clear and poignant message –they turned their backs on her as she arrived at the hospital to check on the wounded officer.

Chicago Police Officer Ella French was the first fatal shooting of an officer in the line of duty since 2018 and the first female officer fatally shot on the job in 33 years.
