New Buyers for TikTok Could Send Platform Spies Packing
With President Trump confirming a group of wealthy U.S. investors is prepared to buy TikTok from ByteDance, the Falun Dafa Information Center can provide expert insight on why this acquisition is far more than just a tech headline—it’s a crucial opportunity to wrest control of one of the world’s most influential platforms from the hands of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), and return it to a system that values privacy, free speech, and human dignity.
Representatives from the Falun Dafa Information Center, including Digital Outreach Director Ben Maloney, are available to speak to the deeper implications of the TikTok sale. They can contextualize this moment within China’s broader ambition to control global discourse through digital platforms—something the CCP has pursued relentlessly both inside and outside its borders. TikTok, under Chinese ownership, has been an engine for censorship, data harvesting, and subtle narrative manipulation.
Under American ownership, TikTok could finally be restructured to reflect the democratic values its massive U.S. user base expects—especially transparency, algorithmic fairness, and protection from state-directed influence. The Center’s spokespeople can break down why this matters not just for national security, but for cultural and digital sovereignty.
From their vantage point monitoring CCP repression for over two decades—including the brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners—the Falun Dafa Information Center understands how the Chinese regime blends surveillance, propaganda, and soft power to erode freedoms globally. ByteDance’s grip on TikTok is part of that equation, and this potential buyout is a unique opportunity to disrupt it.
