There Have Been Suspects Arrested In the Sacramento Shooting Spree, But What Can Be Done in the Future? Guest: Michael Letts

But What Can Be Done In the Future?

Guest: Michael Letts

Earlier this week, a mass shooting in Sacramento left six dead and twelve injured, with the Sacramento Police seeking suspects. Today, they announced that three suspects have been arrested and charged, including two brothers—Dandrae Martin and Smiley Martin.

Michael Letts spoke out on the arrests, just days after his group, In-Vest USA, contributed vests to the Sacramento Police to help them further.

“We couldn’t be prouder of the Sacramento Police Department,” said Letts. “They’re going above and beyond the call of duty to deliver justice for those that lost their lives or suffered injury at the hands of careless criminals.”

That said, he does believe more can be done to protect both officers and innocent civilians in the future. “Here’s hoping that we see more support for our officers in the future with better funding and more equipment to allow them to respond to matters such as these. We must take action NOW to support, fund, and equip our law enforcement/first responders, whom I still consider America’s true heroes!”

We now welcome Michael and offer some questions about what can be done now.

1.     What more is needed to protect officers, outside of the gear you’ve already supplied to them from In-Vest USA?

2.     What improvements do you believe can be made in terms of responding to incidents such as this? This is the second mass shooting in Sacramento in several weeks.

3.     We’ve seen an increase in mass shootings across the United States over the past few years. Do you believe they serve as a “wake-up call” for higher-ups to do better in the future?

4.     Aside from bulletproof vests, what other necessary equipment do you believe will keep officers safe in times like these?

5.     The Sacramento Police actually used social media as a way to connect with potential witnesses who saw what happened. What do you think of this method, and do you believe it will assist them further?

Michael Letts is the Founder, President, and CEO of In-Vest USA, a national grassroots non-profit organization that is helping hundreds of communities provide thousands of bulletproof vests for their police forces through educational, public relations, sponsorship, and fundraising programs.
