The “Twitter Files” Have Revealed an Interesting Tie-In With the FBI – And It’s Likely To Lead To Subpoenas

Law enforcement veteran Michael Letts explains why things continue to look worse for the bureau as 2022 comes to a close.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation has been under scrutiny for most of 2022, mainly due to its actions from the raid on former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort. Now, however, some interesting “Twitter files” have revealed something that gives Republicans even more fuel to go after the bureau.

report from The Epoch Times indicates that, per a reveal through the “Files,” the FBI has actually been working closely with the social media company. That got the attention of Rep. Mike Turner, who will become the chairman for the House Intelligence Committee early next year.

“We are definitely pursuing the Department of Justice and the FBI,” Turner noted on a recent episode of Fox News’ Sunday Morning Futures“We certainly intend to pursue subpoena power to expose the extent to which the FBI has been doing this.”

The internal Twitter documents, offered up by its new owner Elon Musk, note that the FBI and the social media giant had “constant and pervasive” communications, with the bureau treating it as a “subsidiary” and noting accounts and tweets that needed action taken against them – going against the rights of free speech.

This ties in with reports that the bureau had been monitoring the actions of several hundred American parents, which several former employees turned whistleblowers have since confirmed.

With us now to discuss the ongoing actions of the FBI is Michael Letts, a law enforcement veteran with over 30 years of experience under his belt. Letts currently serves as founder, CEO and president for InVest USA, an organization that provides bulletproof vests to police officers through various charitable groups and sponsorships. His expertise is certainly welcome in this discussion.

Q&A:

  1. What’s your take on these “Twitter files” and their reported collaboration with the Federal Bureau of Investigation?
  2. Would you say this is a violation of free speech? Do you think it lends even more credibility to reports that the bureau is spying on American citizens?
  3. Do you think, with Republicans taking charge of Congress in early 2023, it will finally move forward with subpoenas for the FBI and Department of Justice to try to see what’s going on?
  4. Why do you think the FBI has been so quiet in all this? Shouldn’t they have made some sort of statement at least acknowledging the matter? Or are they simply following status quo?
  5. What do you think will happen to the FBI and the Department of Justice in 2023? Or, at least, what are you hoping will happen?
  6. You’re the driving factor of InVest USA, an organization that provides bulletproof vests to police officers through various charitable groups and sponsorships. Tell us more about that, and why support for fellow officers is so important right now.
  7. We understand that InVest USA is also actively involved with Twitter. Where can interested parties learn more?
