The Supreme Court Just Revived Joe Biden’s Regulation of “Ghost Guns”

A Second Amendment Foundation representative explains why the passing of this regulation is a problem to private gun owners.

Once again, the Biden administration is on the attack against guns, this time convincing the Supreme Court that “ghost guns” are a problem.

Earlier this week, the Court voted on a 5-4 decision to revive the regulation, which will crack down on kits that can be purchased online to assemble untraceable homemade firearms. While the decision is provisional, it could have long-lasting effects on collectors and private gun owners.

The administration noted that the push by the administration on the regulation was for “the urgent public safety and law enforcement crisis posed by the exponential rise of untraceable firearms.”

While the regulation doesn’t prohibit the sales of kits and components, it does require manufacturers and sellers to obtain licenses and serial numbers, and conduct background checks.

The regulation was previously struck down last month, with Judge Reed O’Connor of the Federal District Court for the Northern District of Texas noting that “a weapons parts kit is not a firearm” and “that which may become or may be converted to a functional receiver is not itself a receiver.”

So the question is what happens now – and what further effect it could have on the Biden administration’s battle for an “assault weapons” ban. Joining us now to discuss the matter further is a representative for the Second Amendment Foundation, a group that firmly believes in the right for all U.S. citizens to bear arms. Their insight will provide weight on this matter.

Q&A:

  1. So why now? Why did the Biden administration push for the Supreme Court to rule on the matter surrounding “ghost gun” kits?
  2. Did they really believe that “ghost guns” are a problem amongst criminals? Are there statistics that show them being used more and more? Or did Biden find another way to convince the Justices?
  3. Following this provisional regulation, is there a possibility that this could push the Biden administration to once again proceed with their proposed ban on “assault weapons”?
  4. Do you believe there will be a long-lasting effect on this “ghost gun” law? Or could a court possibly overturn it for the fairness of private gun owners?
  5. What level of protection does the Second Amendment provide in regards to this “ghost gun” law? Did the Biden administration even give it any consideration?
  6. Where can we learn more about the Second Amendment Foundation and its members?
