The S&P Just Suffered Its Longest Losing Streak In Well Over a Decade, But What’s This Mean For the Year Ahead? (Guest: Ron Paul)

In the face of a growing inflation and the Federal Reserve continuing to raise its rates, the S&P saw an alarming stock trend headed into the weekend.

report from Yahoo! News indicates that the S&P 500 recently fell to its lowest level in just about a year’s time. But what’s more alarming is the “losing streak” that it’s been on. With five consecutive weeks of drops, it’s entered the worst drop record in well over a decade, since June 2011.

That brings up a level of “uncertainty,” according to Ally chief markets and money strategist Lindsey Bell. “A key question for many investors is how big of a hurdle a quickly rising interest-rate environment is going to be for stocks to overcome.”

With us now to discuss the matter further is former Congressman Ron Paul, who’s been watching the economic scene since the start of inflation many month ago. Let’s see what he has to say on the matter at hand.

Q&A

  1. Between the Dow dropping nearly 1,000 points a little while back and the S&P seeing an incredible “losing streak,” what does the future of the stock market hold in the face of our current inflation?
  2. Do you see a potential “bounce back” happening any time soon? Or do you believe the S&P could see even more drops as 2023 begins to make its way around?
  3. What kind of warning signs should stock investors look for in the face of this news? Perhaps they should hold off on their investment until they see what happens in the weeks ahead?
  4. Do you believe we’ll see some sort of recession in 2023 that could further affect the stock market? Or will the Federal Reserve find a way to reverse course?
  5. You are currently a spokesperson for Birch Gold Group, a tangible assets company that specializes in selling gold and silver coins. Do you believe it may be a better move to invest in those, rather than general stocks?
  6. Where can we learn more about possible precious metals investments and the positives that come from them?
