Parents Take Objection To President Joe Biden’s Comment About Students Are Like Teachers’ Children (Guest: Sheri Few)

During a recent Teacher of the Year event at the White House, President Joe Biden made an interesting comment about a connection between teachers and students. “You have heard me say it many times about our children, but it is true,” he said. “They’re all our children. And the reason you are the teachers of the year is because you recognize that. They’re not somebody else’s children. They’re like yours when they’re in the classroom.”

While Biden was trying to honor educators at the time, the quote has been met with some outrage by concerned parents who were already worried about how some things are being taught in schools, including Critical Race Theory.

In response, several have spoken about the quote. “There is no way that my child, or children, are any other person’s child,” Army of Parents co-founder Elicia Brand noted on Fox News Digital. “They are mine and my husband’s. It is appalling what President Biden has said.”

Joining us now to discuss this controversy is Sheri Few, who serves as founder and president of the United States Parents Involved In Education (USPIE for short). She also serves as Executive Producer of the film Truth and Lies In American Education, a new documentary available now at the film’s website, www.truthandliesfilm.us.

1. Why do you think so many parents are offended by Biden’s notion that children belong to everyone?

2. Did he go too far when it came to saying that they’re “like yours”?

3. Tell us about the Teacher of the Year from your state: South Carolina.

4. Some believe that the quote makes parents “irrelevant” to their child. Is that what you take away from it?

5. Your documentary Truth and Lies In American Education tackles these topics. Where can we learn more about it?

Answer: Our website is USPIE.org, and we have downloadable resources to help parents advocate for their children and fight against the indoctrination of their children. The film just came out for streaming, and you can visit https://TruthAndLiesFilm.us/ for information on how to watch it.

It’s also available on Vimeo: https://vimeo.com/ondemand/truthandlies/
