The law enforcement veteran discusses the response by local police officers about never speaking to the Secret Service before the assassination attempt.
Just days after the director of the agency stepped down over the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump just days prior, a new report on Fox News reveals just how much the Secret Service failed the nominee.
Per the report, it appears that the Secret Service never coordinated with local law enforcement to provide better security for Trump at the rally. As a result, a lone shooter, Thomas Matthew Crooks, attempted to kill him, instead killing another attendee and injuring two others before being taken down.
“We were supposed to get a face-to-face briefing with the Secret Service members whenever they arrived,” the Beaver County team’s lead sharpshooter Jason Woods told ABC News. “That never happened.”
Bottom line, “we had no communication.”
The Secret Service has since responded, noting, “As it relates to communications on that day, we are committed to better understanding what happened before, during, and after the assassination attempt of former President Trump to ensure that never happens again. That includes complete cooperation with Congress, the FBI and other relevant investigations.”
