The host and producer of the series BorderWars discusses the breach, as well as what should be learned to keep our borders safe.
As the border crisis continues on, a recent incident in El Paso, Texas has many wondering just how dire the situation is.
Right before the weekend, a group of 100 migrants attempted to breach the El Paso border, cutting through heavy defenses and servicemen in an effort to make their way into the United States.
According to reports, around 600 migrants first gathered at the border, as part of a reported “spring surge” to get some into the country. As the Texas National Guard attempted to organize them into smaller groups, one of them made a break for it.
The group, wearing hoodies and gloves, attempted to pull fence away and making their way through the razor wire that had been installed. They screamed how tired and hungry they were at the soldiers on the other side of the fence.
Most of the group were successfully pushed back to Mexico, while several were arrested and detained for processing.
Keep in mind also that this was an attempted breach at a state where Gov. Greg Abbott set up defenses for situations such as this – defenses, by the way, that President Joe Biden is actively battling against. Imagine how many would’ve gotten into the country without them.
Joining us now to discuss this further is Nicole McCaw, a host and producer with NTD Television. She currently serves as producer and host for BorderWars, a new documentary that follows her and her crew as they look at the trials and tribulations occurring at the U.S./Mexico border. Her expertise make her an ideal guest for his show.
Welcome, Nicole!

- Why do you think that President Biden and several of his supporters are pushing back against defensive tools such as this? Are they more concerned with the humane treatment of immigrants rather than actual U.S. citizens, or is it something else?
- If the border crisis continues as it is, will it potentially cost Biden his chance at re-election?
- If you were in charge of drafting a solution to the border crisis, how would you go about it?
- Let’s talk about your documentary BorderWars. What motivated you to work on this?
- What would you say was the biggest challenge in getting BorderWars made?
- What has the response to BorderWars been like so far?
- Where can we watch BorderWars? And where can we find more information about it?
