The Gun Owners of America have FBI data that shoots holes in a Democratic gun strategy out of Virginia.
A pair of Democratic Senators are attempting to introducing a tyrannical gun strategy across the country. However, some FBI data reveals just how full of holes it really is, according to Gun Owners of America spokesman Stephen Willeford.
Tim Kaine and Mark Warner have begun introducing a “Virginia Plan,” something that they previously put in place for Richmond. They have hopes of rolling it out nationwide, potentially introducing 13 of the most extreme gun restrictions across the entire country.
They feel that these are necessary following the 2007 Virginia Tech massacre. However, the pro-gun group, who firmly believes in everyone’s right to bear arms, actually have analysis straight from the FBI.
According to this report, measuring mass shootings across more than seven decades, 93 percent of said shootings actually occur in so-called Gun-Free Zones. This would suggest that the problem doesn’t lie with having too many guns, but rather places where the attacker is armed, and victims don’t have any way to fight back. (Obviously, this would be resolved if a registered Constitutional-Carry or Open-Carry citizen was on hand.)
Perhaps the biggest provision in the “Virginia Plan” involves a ban on commonly owned firearms – something the state is currently facing. However, FBI data further reveals that, over a period of the fast five years, knives are used in around 1,500 homicides annually – that’s over three times of deaths caused by all rifles combined.
“These bans don’t just miss the mark – they come at a real cost,” the group noted in a statement. “The firearms being targeted are amongst the most popular in the country for lawful purposes, including self-defense. Stripping law-abiding citizens of access to effective defensive tools doesn’t disarm criminals – it only tilts the balance against those who follow the law.
“If the goal is public safety, we should focus on violent offenders, not restrict responsible citizens.”
Stephen Willeford knows all too well the effects of being a hero in a dangerous situation. He was known as the “hero with a gun” in the 2017 situation in Sutherland Springs, where he effectively stopped a deadly attack. He joins us now to discuss this matter further. Welcome, Stephen!
