The New China-Competition Committee Is the Right Move, But Why Is It So Late? (Guest: The Epoch Times’ Nan Su)

The investigative reporter does commend the forming of the committee, but it should have been done much sooner.

With all the troubling actions surrounding the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) as of late, it should come as no surprise that the House in the U.S. Congress has chosen to act. But the real question is why it took so long to do so.

A new Epoch Times article from investigative reporter Nan Su explains how the forming of a new group to look into the actions of the CCP – the House Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the U.S. and the Chinese Communist Party – came about. “Americans need to take immediate action if they don’t want to see their future generations become the slaves to the CCP,” he explained.

With Chinese economy growing tenfold over the past couple of decades, there are a number of aspects worth noting with the CCP, including an increase in modern technology, as well as a growth in military power, population being under central control and, most importantly, a history of domestic genocide. That last one is a real stinger, with as many as 80 million Chinese people killed by the CCP since 1949.

Including all these actions, it does lead to the question as to why the Committee took so long to be formed – and what kind of effect it could have in the future. Nan Su joins us now to discuss this article.

Q&A:

  1. Let’s just get it out there – why did it take so long to form this Committee, do you think? Was America simply being passive over the progress of the CCP, or did it not believe it would be a big threat as it is?
  2. What’s more concerning – the growth in economic power or the growth in military power? Or is it a combination of the two?
  3. Could what’s happening in China with COVID-19 and its spreading to millions be part of the reason that the U.S. wanted to act? Or is it purely based on the reasons above?
  4. There has been a stark difference between the effectiveness of the cold war strategy against China, and what the U.S. tried to do with its following China Policy. What was the thinking that you believe went into these strategies?
  5. Do you see the China Committee formed by the House of Congress being effective over the next few years? Or will it likely fail under the weight of the CCP’s economic and military strength?
  6. Where do you see the CCP going over the next few years? Should other nations be concerned as well, particularly if it continues its actions against nearby Taiwan?
  7. Speaking of what’s going on with China, you recently contributed to a new Epoch Times documentary called The Final WarTell us more about it and why it’s such a compelling subject with everything that’s happening right now.
  8. Where can we learn more about you and see your work over on The Epoch Times?
