The Israel/Hamas War: When a Hospital Could Be Under Attack (Guest: David Rubin)

The Former Mayor of Shiloh discusses Hamas’ latest, cowardly actions, and how innocent people are being affected.

It’s been a few weeks since the conflict between Israel and Hamas began, but the numbers are already showing massive casualties from the conflict.

Thousands of people have been killed in the ongoing battle; and what’s worse, people cannot even find safety in hospitals, because even they are under attack.

This story from Al Jazeera reveals how Israel’s military is fighting right outside al-Shifa Hospital, where people are being treated. In fact, the hospital’s director, Muhammad Abu Salmiya, noted, “We are minutes away from imminent death.” Imagine the harrowing feeling that brings, especially when you’re working to save lives.

So why a strike so close to a hospital? Former Mayor of Shiloh David Rubin explains, “What Al Jazeera is not reporting to you, is that Hamas’ central command center, which masterminded and coordinated the massacre of thousands of Israeli civilians on October 7th, is strategically located under Shifa Hospital in a multi-level military complex. Hamas always hides behind civilians, which is an internationally-recognized war crime.”

But there’s a further agenda to this, according to Rubin. “Hamas is waiting in major ambush mode in the booby-trapped hospital, for Israeli ground forces to attack the hospital, so they can kill more young Israeli soldiers and then hypocritically boost their propaganda campaign by claiming that Israel is intentionally targeting the poor, sick Gazans.”

That being said, Rubin believes that Israeli troops should first take full control of the hospital, and from there to hit the underground Hamas center, rather than going into a full-scale air attack. However, “if that won’t be possible without endangering the lives of many Israeli soldiers, patients should be gradually evacuated, and then Israel should bomb the Hamas occupation until the entire complex is destroyed.

Rubin joins us now to discuss the matter further.

Q&A:

  1. You’ve seen a lot that’s been happening with this conflict. How has it hit you personally?
  2. Does hiding its command center under a hospital seem surprising to you, based on the behavior of Hamas officials? Or does it fit their way of thinking?
  3. You noted that Israeli soldiers should try and take control of the hospital and command center. But what if they are unable to do so?
  4. Do you believe an airstrike on the hospital should take place? What about the civilians that are inside?
  5. Where do you see the battle between Israel and Hamas going in the months ahead? Is there any resolution in sight?
  6. Can you tell us more about the Shiloh Israel Children’s Fund, where people can help out children that are victims of terror?
