The IRS May No Longer Be Able To Buy Guns and Ammo – And Have To Sell the Ones They Currently Have (Guest: Michael Letts)

Law enforcement veteran Michael Letts praises the new bill put together by Sen. Ernst – but still can’t help but wonder why the IRS needed weapons to begin with.

In the past, it was reported that the IRS was somehow arming its agents with guns and ammunition, though it failed to disclose why it was doing so. However, Iowa Republican Sen. Joni Ernst is putting together a bill that could end that.

Titled the “Why Does the IRS Have Guns Act” (the question many people have been asking), it would not only prohibit the bureau from purchasing new weapons, but also force them to sell off current ones through auction, with funds to be applied to the current federal deficit.

For that matter, the bill would also call for the Criminal Investigation Division within the Justice Department to be relocated, though to where hasn’t been disclosed just yet.

In a press release, Ernst explained, “As the Biden administration has worked to expand the size of the IRS, any further weaponization of this federal agency against hardworking Americans and small businesses is a grave concern. I’m working to disarm the IRS and return these dollars to address reckless spending in Washington.”

With us now to discuss this matter further is Michael Letts, a law enforcement veteran with over 30 years of experience under his belt. Letts is President, Founder and CEO of InVest USA, an organization that provides bulletproof vests to police officers through various charitable groups and sponsorships. His expertise will be most certainly welcome in this matter.

Q&A:

  1. So, personally, why do you think the IRS armed their agents? Are they that concerned with people that aren’t paying taxes? Was it more of an intimidation factor?
  2. Did this move make sense at all? Were the Biden Administration really that concerned that people might threaten IRS agents?
  3. Clearly Sen. Ernst sees a problem with agents being armed, especially with funds that are being used by American taxpayers. Are you surprised that such a bill to defund them didn’t come sooner?
  4. The IRS reportedly spent a whopping $10 million on these weapons, including the likes of rifles and tactical shotguns. How frustrating is it that they have money to spend on these weapons when so many police officers in the United States don’t have all the proper gear they need to dutifully complete their patrols?
  5. Should the government have considered a program where the police get these weapons and/or the funds needed to properly help out officers?
  6. Do you see the IRS fighting back against this potential bill? Would it really even make sense?
  7. You’re the creator of InVest USA, an organization that provides bulletproof vests to police officers through various charitable groups and sponsorships. Tell us more about that, and why support for fellow officers is so important right now.
  8. Tell us more about RestoringJustice.US, the new website where you help out citizens in need surrounding law matters.
  9. Where can we learn more about InVest USA, Restoring Justice and whatever else you’re working on?

You can visit our official InVest USA website, and learn more on the official Invest USA Twitter account. You can also learn about our new initiative at RestoringJustice.US.
