The spokesman for the group explains why this is such a vital victory – and what comes next.
After spending what felt like an eternity fighting against it, the Gun Owners of America (GOA) have secured a huge victory over President Joe Biden and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
In a press announcement this week, the group confirmed that, alongside the Gun Owners Foundation (GOF), they managed to secure a preliminary injunction against Biden’s pre-set Universal Registration Check rule. It would have previously required a person who sells just one gun in a year to obtain a Federal Firearms License and conduct background checks.
With the judge’s order, the ATF is now unable to enforce the new rule on a number of gun groups, including the GOA.
This follows the groups previous legal action, a temporary restraining order, against the rule.
Erich Pratt, the Senior Vice President of the GOA, noted, “This is a massive victory for our members, and it comes at a crucial time. Before the rule even took effect, the ATF was involved in an early morning raid in Arkansas on a citizen’s home who was accused of not abiding by these rules, and ultimately, he ended up being killed.
“This Administration’s ceaseless aggression towards gun owners has already turned deadly, and the enforcement of this rule would have inevitably led to more unnecessary bloodshed. GOA and our valued partners will continue to fight back against this lawless and tyrannical administration.”
