Last month, Joe Biden and his administration relaxed restrictions on chemical abortion pills, noting that pharmacies and other medical facilities would be able to distribute them with ease. However, nearly half of all state Attorneys General (22) signed an open letter on January 13 to the FDA committing to prosecute violations of the preexisting law that the Biden Administration was attempting to circumvent.
A string of open letters to the Commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland at the Department of Justice (DOJ) were sent on January 13, 25, and 26. These letters placed the chemical abortion industry on notice for largescale, illicit chemical abortion drug trafficking. Approximately one quarter of U.S. Senators (23) signed a letter that went out on the 26th, with demands that Attorney General Merrick Garland at the Department of Justice (DOJ) take action over chemical abortion pills.
In the letters, medical studies break down specifically how chemical abortion drugs pose life-threatening danger to women, and how recent moves by the Biden Administration have generally ignored the welfare of said women for the sake of insulating the abortion industry form the result of self-governing states creating laws governing the sale, distribution, and use of chemical abortion drugs.
The Senators that signed the letter were quick to note that violations of illicit abortion drug trafficking “…constitute predicate offenses under both the Racketeer and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) and Federal criminal money laundering statutes. RICO provides for enhanced criminal penalties [triple damages] and civil causes of action against anyone who, in connection with an enterprise, engages in a pattern of violating the Federal mail-order abortion laws.”
CompassCare CEO Jim Harden, in a press statement, noted, “For far too long the abortion industry has gotten a pass for dangerously subpar medical ethics. These letters should strike fear into the heart of the entire abortion industry, criminally profiteering and risking the lives of over 400,000 women exposed to these chemicals every year in America for crimes they are now brazenly committing.”
Harden, or CompassCare Director of Community Relations Daniel Tomlinson, joins us now to discuss the matter further.
Q&A:
- So if chemical abortion pills are so damaging to women, why did the Biden Administration green-light their distribution? To keep the abortion industry moving?
- Three letters have been sent to high-ranking Biden Administration officials about this matter, but there hasn’t been any response as of yet. Why do you think that is?
- Considering the Racketeer and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO), shouldn’t something be done to stop the distribution of chemical abortion drugs?
- What would you say are the consequences that could come from chemical abortion pills if Garland and the Department of Justice fail to act on the matter?
- Do you see any more Senators or Republicans in the House of Congress supporting the fight against chemical abortion pills in the future?
- For those that are interested in supporting CompassCare and learning more about the services they provide, where can they go?
