Thanks to Gun Owners of America, A Federal Judge Has Stopped Illinois’ Latest Gun Bans In Their Tracks

A spokesman for the group discusses the permanent injunction, which is a huge win for private gun owners.

Illinois’ government just learned that their gun bans don’t hold any power compared to the Second Amendment.

The Gun Owners of America (GOA), alongside the Gun Owners Foundation, have secured a permanent injunction against the State of Illinois’ poorly named Protect Illinois Communities Act. The Act was put in place to ban a number of semi-automatic rifles, as well as standard capacity magazines and bump stocks.

With the help of a Federal Judge, the injunction is now in effect, with the bans knocked down. It’s likely that Illinois’ government will try to reinstate them somehow. But, for now, this definitely counts as a win for the private gun owning community.

Erich Pratt, who serves as Senior Vice President for the GOA, noted, “This week just keeps getting better for gun owners and worse for anti-gunners like J.B. Pritzker. We warned them to fall in line, but instead they chose to do the opposite. And, while this case took time, we are thrilled with the victory and for the citizens of Illinois. We the People deserve the right to decide how best to protect ourselves and our loved ones, not anti-gun tyrants.”

Sam Paredes, speaking on behalf of the GOF, added, “This is incredible news, and we’re so proud to have played a major part in defeating this egregious violation of the Second Amendment. No doubt Governor Pritzker will appeal, but we are fully prepared to hold him accountable to the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.”

With that, a spokesman for the Gun Owners of America joins us now to discuss this win further.

Sam Parades is available to speak on this subject, serving as Executive Director of the Gun Owners of America.

Stephen Willeford, the 2017 “hero with a gun” who serves as the spokesman for the Gun Owners of America, is also available.

Q&A:

  1. What does this victory mean for private gun owners?
  2. Why would Illinois try to set up such unlawful bans in the first place? Did they really think this would be an effective solution for growing gun violence?
  3. Why do you think the state never considered anything like Constitutional-Carry/Concealed-Carry as a proper solution to the problem?
  4. What do you think Illinois’ government will do next with this matter?
  5. Where do you see the battle for gun rights going as 2025 approaches? Could we see even more victories for private gun owners with Donald Trump returning to the White House?
  6. FOR STEPHEN: You recently wrote a book called A Town Called Sutherland Springs: Faith and Heroism Through Tragedy, revolving around your 2017 “hero with a gun” situation. Tell us more about how this came together, and why it’s such an important read right now.
  7. FOR STEPHEN: Where can people find your book?
    1. You can purchase the book here on Amazon, both in paperback and Kindle format.
  8. Where can we learn more about you, as well as Gun Owners of America?
