The former Mayor of Shiloh discusses the latest initiative against Iran, and what Israel’s goal is in the long run surrounding the war.
After several months of conflict with Hamas, Israel has taken its strategy to the next level and gone directly after Iran.
Over the weekend, Israel struck several key targets within the country, escalating its fight with Iran. That conflict continues with key missile strikes between both parties, with many wondering what will happen next.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke about neutralizing the Iranian threat, especially when it comes to their nuclear capabilities.
“We are here because we are in an existential campaign, which is clear today to all citizens of Israel. Think of what could happen if Iran had atomic weapons to drop on Israeli cities. Think of what could happen if Iran had 20,000 such missiles,” he said.
“Iran will pay a very heavy price for deliberately murdering our citizens, women and children. We will also achieve our objectives and we will also strike them forcefully. They will feel the might of our arm.”
That said, many are questioning the actions of Israel, particularly U.S. President Donald Trump, who continues to deny any involvement by his country, but still warns that Iran should not strike any U.S. oriented targets.
So was this conflict the right move? And, for that matter, what will happen next?
Joining us now to discuss this further is David Rubin, former mayor of Shiloh, Israel, and Founder of the Shiloh Israel Children’s Fund. Welcome, Mayor Rubin.
Q&A:
- What are your thoughts on this conflict between Israel and Iran? Was it inevitable with what was happening between Israel and Hamas?
- Does Netanyahu have a point when it comes to the dangerous nuclear capabilities that Iran possesses? What do you think is the best way to handle such a threat, in your opinion?
- What about Trump denying being involved in any of the attacks? Is it a bit odd how, at one point, he was ready to help Netanyahu with anything, but now he seems like he’s keeping his distance? What do you think might be his reasoning for that?
- What about those that criticize Netanyahu’s actions against Iran? What would you say to them?
- Where do you see this conflict between Israel and Iran going in the next few months? Could Iran potentially hit a “panic button” and consider its nuclear options? Or will it not reach that point?
