The former Mayor of Shiloh discusses Benjamin Netanyahu’s new initiative to rescue the hostages and take back the fallen city from Hamas.
As the conflict between Israel and Hamas marches towards the conclusion of its second year on October 7th, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu isn’t wasting any efforts in terms of getting things done.
According to CNN, Netanyahu is pushing for negotiations for the release of the remaining hostages in Hamas’ custody. For that matter, he’s also calling for an end to the war in Gaza that are “on terms acceptable to Israel.” This comes shortly after Israel military confirmed its plans to take back Gaza City, which has fallen on hard times following Hamas’ occupation.
The goal, which has always remained in sight, is to “decisively defeat Hamas,” according to Netanyahu. He also noted how Israel is at a crucial point in recovering what has been lost.
“We are at the decisive stage,” he noted, adding that “defeating Hamas and securing the release of all hostages go hand in hand.”
Of course, there’s a big “what if” factor in this – and that’s involving Hamas itself. A surrender isn’t very likely, especially with the ongoing conflict in the area right now. That may call for total eradication of Hamas forces, which could put the rescue of the remaining hostages into question.
So how will Israel move forward in an effort to find peace? Joining us now to discuss this further is David Rubin, former mayor of Shiloh, Israel, and Founder of the Shiloh Israel Children’s Fund. Welcome, Mayor Rubin.

- Where does Iran play a part in this, if they continue to play any part at this point?
