The Supreme Court will consider arguments Thursday that determine whether former President Donald Trump can claim presidential immunity against criminal charges. Special Counsel Jack Smith – appointed by the controversial Merrick Garland — has charged Trump with conspiracy to defraud the U.S. and obstruction of an official proceeding for his role in the January 6th controversy.
The Supreme Court decision could determine whether Trump faces a federal trial this year on four counts. Trump has pleaded not guilty and is seeking immunity. It’s a complicated case pitting accountability against a president’s protection in carrying out their duties of office.
Joining us now to discuss the trial is Michael Letts, a law enforcement veteran with over 30 years of experience under his belt. Letts is President, Founder, and CEO of InVest USA, an organization that provides bulletproof vests to police officers through various charitable groups and sponsorships.
Welcome, Michael.
