Shut Off the Electronic Gun Registry!

Gun Owners of America spokesman Stephen Willeford discusses a recent bill undergoing a vote in Pennsylvania that could open an unneeded registry.

What kind of hindrance could an electronic gun registry present to American gun owners? Quite a bit, actually.

It serves as a digitized database that records firearm serial numbers in an effort to trace ownership and movement. Though there have been some efforts in the past to make this a nationwide thing, it’s been shot down every time by the Second Amendment of the Constitution.

That said, some states are still trying. Like, for instance, Pennsylvania.

State Democrats are putting a bill that’s going into vote this week that, if cleared, would allow the Pennsylvania State Police to enhance the “Record of Sale” system – essentially creating a backdoor gun registry. According to the Gun Owners of America, the bill, titled HB 1891, “would allow the efficient collection of any additional data the government would decide to ask for at the point of sale using this electronic form.”

What’s worse, these same Democrats already have Universal Background Check legislation set to go as well, which could electronically centralize all firearms transactions within the state. “Make no mistake, the House Democrats are implementing Bloomberg’s agenda to register and track all firearms sales in Pennsylvania. And history informs us that when guns are registered, confiscation eventually occurs,” the group noted.

So, just how dangerous would an electronic gun registry be for this state? Joining us now is Stephen Willeford, the “Hero With a Gun” who serves as spokesman for the Gun Owners of America. We welcome him to the show!
