Should All Knives be Banned after 11 Stabbed in Illinois Rampage? (Guest: Stephen Willeford)

Four people are dead and as many as 7 more were injured in Rockford, Illinois after a 22-year-old man stabbed them in the middle of the afternoon Wednesday.  In what was first reported as a home invasion, the man killed a 15-year-old girl, a 63-year-old woman, a 49-year-old man, and a 22-year-old man. The stabbings took place at multiple scenes.

What makes this particularly interesting: Had he used a gun, the response from the media and Democrats in general would be entirely different. The outrage would bypass the killer and go straight to guns themselves, calling for gun bans.

Currently, when someone kills with a knife, nobody blames knives, the easy access to knives (even a child can buy them), or those who manufacture knives. But should that change and should we now ban knives?

Joining us now to discuss this further is Stephen Willeford, the spokesman for the Gun Owners of America. You may recall Willeford being the “hero with a gun” with the Sutherland Springs situation in 2017, which led to a book he co-authored. Welcome, Stephen.

Q&A:

1. Tragic as it is, this story also tells us a lot about how guns are treated as criminals, instead of the criminals themselves. How does this story alter than narrative?

2. If they treated knives the same way they treat guns, what would we be reading about this story?

3. Do you read this and wonder, what if just one of the victims had access to a gun?

4. How hard is it for citizens of Illinois to get access to a gun?

5. If citizens of Illinois struggle to get guns, why are there so many shooting deaths, particularly in Chicago?

6. You recently wrote a book called A Town Called Sutherland Springs: Faith and Heroism Through Tragedy, revolving around your 2017 “hero with a gun” situation. How does the situation you were in relate to this one out of Illinois?

7. Where can people find your book?

a. You can purchase the book here on Amazon, both in paperback and Kindle format.

8. Where can we learn more about you, as well as Gun Owners of America?
