Seattle’s Latest Stabbing Spree Proves That Restrictive Gun Laws Aren’t Working
A spokesman for the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA) explains why Seattle needs to correct course – and quickly.
Seattle has seen a huge increase in crime over the past couple of years – and it appears that matters are getting worse.
A recent string of stabbings within the city show just how ineffective the city’s government is when it comes to controlling crime. But worse yet, its restrictive gun laws are preventing citizens from truly defending themselves at a time of need.
The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA) have been quick to demand a resolution to the matter, especially considering that the stabbing suspect has had previous convictions on his record.
Just what does it take for anti-gunners, in Seattle and elsewhere, to figure out their gun control policies have been abject failures,” CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb noted in a statement. “While Washington state gun control advocates from the Seattle City Council up the chain to Attorney General Bob Ferguson and Gov. Jay Inslee have gleefully pushed to restrict the rights of law-abiding citizens, violent crime has continued. The number of homicides in the state has doubled in the past ten years, and the number of murders in Seattle tripled with last year’s record.
“Not only is the suspect in custody for five stabbings last Friday,” said Gottlieb, “he is believed to be connected to at least four of five earlier random stabbing attacks. With incidents such as this headlining local and national news, it is no wonder why more than 700,000 concerned Washington citizens have obtained concealed pistol licenses, including more than 112,000 in King County, which encompasses Seattle. We say good for them, because if the state won’t protect innocent people from violent criminals, then the public will respond accordingly.
“All this really proves is that making gun laws more restrictive hasn’t worked,” Gottlieb concluded. “Inslee and Ferguson supported a ten-day waiting period and an enhanced background check for gun purchases. There are no waiting periods or background checks on knife purchases. They supported a ban on semi-auto rifles and original-capacity magazines, but it was all flash no substance intentionally designed to fool people into believing something has been done about violent crime. But violent crime and murders are still happening. The gun control agenda is and always has been doomed to failure because it creates a false sense of security. Anti-gunners blame firearms and penalize honest owners when what is needed is to hold criminals accountable and when they’re convicted of multiple felonies, they need to be locked up and kept away from the public.”
A spokesman for the group joins us now to discuss the situation further.
Q&A:
- Why has Seattle set out to make things so miserable for private gun owners with its restrictive gun laws?
- The city’s government set out to put these laws in place to tone down its violence. And instead, matters seem to be getting worse. Shouldn’t they have done more research behind this?
- What can save Seattle at this point? A Concealed-Carry law? Or something that, at the very least, stops hindering the rights of private gun owners?
- If things don’t get better, could Seattle possibly see even more crime as 2025 approaches?
- We’ve seen states that approve Concealed-Carry see a decrease in criminal activity. Why do you think it’s proven to be so effective?
- Where can people call in to pledge their support to the CCRKBA?
- The number to support the group is (800) 699-0992.
- Where can we learn more about the CCRKBA and its members?
