Riots and Protests: What America Can Learn From Israel

The protests – turned riots and looting – have scorched the major cities of America in recent days and have left many Americans reeling and confused. After all, didn’t this start as a noble struggle against racism?

The nation of Israel has had vast experience dealing with similar rebellions, but there the lines are more clearly drawn, with less confusion. What can we learn from Israel in confronting this recurring powder keg, which seems to get worse every time it explodes?

Joining us in this discussion is David Rubin, who grew up in Brooklyn, was mayor of Shiloh, Israel, and is author of the book, “Trump and the Jews”.

Q&A:

  1. What are we Americans failing to do in quelling these riots? The first step is to recognize it for what it is. It is not a protest. A protest is a strong expression of disagreement, often in large groups, but usually not violent. A riot is when a protest becomes violent and out of control.
  1. So, what have we been seeing in American cities? With the exception of a few isolated peaceful marches, what we’ve seen in the past week has been a combination of riots and armed insurrection.
  1. Isn’t armed insurrection a strong term? Look, we have experienced this for years from the so-called Palestinians, who are trying to destroy our country. When they do not have guns, they use rocks, bricks, and Molotov cocktails and they call it a “protest”, but it is not. Bricks, rocks, and Molotov cocktails have killed and maimed hundreds, even thousands of Israelis.
  1. Okay, armed, yes, but an insurrection is an organized attempt to overthrow an existing government. Is that a bit of an exaggeration? Not at all. Groups like Antifa and Black Lives Matter are very active in spearheading these so-called protests and they make it very clear in their doctrine on websites and elsewhere, that their goal is nothing less than the violent overthrow of the American system of government. They want to do to the United States what Hamas wants to do to Israel. They just have fewer guns and no missiles, yet. They also want to destroy the capitalist economy and that, in addition to blatant lawlessness, is what the looting is all about.
  1. You are not just talking from theory; you were injured in a terror attack, leaving your 3-year-old son in critical condition. Tell us about that.
  1. Tell us about your book, “Trump and the Jews” and where we can pick up a copy? “Trump and the Jews” examines the relationship between President Trump, Israel, and the Jewish people, with a special focus on the growing Left-Right divide in America and how it impacts those relationships. The best way to get the book is simply to go on Amazon.com and type in the words “Trump and the Jews”.
