A Second Amendment representative explains why the lawsuit from these gun owners is justified.
California has implemented a law that calls for a ten-day waiting period to purchase firearms – but that’s too long a period for gun owners in San Diego.
A lawsuit has been filed, challenging the state law surrounding the waiting period for new guns, as well as ammunition purchases and possession. It notes that this period “prevents law-abiding people from taking possession of lawfully acquired firearms for immediate self-defense and other lawful purposes”, and deem it is unconstitutional.
Firearms Policy Coalition director of legal operations Bill Sack noted in a statement, “Arbitrarily delaying access of life-saving and constitutionally protected tools to peaceable people is immoral and unsupported by the text, history, and tradition of the second amendment in this country. This law must be struck down.”
Several gun groups are supporting the lawsuit, including the San Diego County Gun Owners PAC, California Gun Rights Foundation, Firearms Policy Coalition, and the Second Amendment Foundation.
