President of Mexico Uses Bridge Tragedy to Criticize Americans (Guest: Nicole McCaw)

Usually, tragedies unite countries, even if times are otherwise a bit tense. But Mexico’s President, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, used the collapsed bridge in Baltimore as an excuse to criticize American treatment of those crossing the border from Mexico.

Three Mexican nationals were on the Francis Scott Key Bridge when it collapsed Tuesday. One of them survived, the other two are missing. President Obrador noted migrants often do “risky work” and then complained “they do not deserve to be treated, as they often are, by some irresponsible politicians and with little sensibility in the United States.”

This comes just days after he insisted the United States send $20 billion dollars to Latin American countries to slow the flow of migrants across the border.

Joining us now to discuss this further is Nicole McCaw, a host and producer with NTD Television. She currently serves as producer and host for BorderWars, a new documentary that follows her and her crew as they look at the trials and tribulations occurring at the U.S./Mexico border.

Welcome, Nicole.

Q&A:

1. What do we know, if anything, about the Mexican immigrants who were working on the bridge at the time of the collapse?

2. Does it seem inappropriate for the president of Mexico to use this tragedy to criticize Americans?

3. Do we know who he is criticizing, specifically?

4. This comes so soon after his monetary demands on CBS’s 60 Minutes. What appears to be his issue with our country?

5. Tensions with Mexico were high during the Trump administration. But are they higher under Biden?

6. Few media reported on the negative comments when they first came out. Why do you suppose that is?

  • Let’s talk about your documentary BorderWars. What motivated you to work on this?
  • What would you say was the biggest challenge in getting BorderWars made?
  • What has the response to BorderWars been like so far?

10. Where can we watch BorderWars? And where can we find more information about it?

About Nicole McCaw…

Nicole McCaw is a fierce warrior for all things America. She has dedicated her life to the fight for liberty and justice, as well as being a voice for the voiceless.

At 19 years old, she traveled the country speaking out against human rights abuses in communist China. Her passion and quest soon took her demonstrations at the White House, and the U.S. Capital, before being a ‘J-6er’ was vogue.

After having been a successful host and producer with NTD Television, an arm of The Epoch Times, she put her TV career on hold for the most important job…motherhood.

But Nicole is back in front of cameras again, as a producer/host of the Documentary film, “BorderWars,” bringing her to some of the most dangerous places in the United States, for two years, capturing over 150 hours of original footage of the trials and tribulations on the U.S.-Mexican border.
