Police have arrested an illegal alien in Ohio who has confessed to multiple rapes of a 10-year-old girl who was transported across state lines to Indiana to obtain an abortion. The girl’s mother had reported the sex crime by 27-year-old Gerson Fuentes to Ohio Children’s. Ten days later, the girl underwent a chemical abortion in Indianapolis.
Rev. Jim Harden, CEO of Compass Care, an expert in medical ethics and women’s reproductive health care, joins us to share some legal and ethical concerns surrounding this tragedy.
Q&A:
- Rape is a first-degree felony in Ohio. So how can a medical provider release confidential patient information to the public?
- This story seems to be used by abortion proponents to depict a post-Roe v Wade world as barbaric, where10-year-old rape victims have to travel across state lines to get an abortion. But, somehow, confidential information leaked. For instance, how is it that we know: A) that this girl had an abortion, B) that the abortion was performed in Indianapolis, and C) that it was a chemical abortion?
- By law, Medical providers must report child abuse. Did the abortionist in Indiana report the crime since it appears that the investigation is only happening in Ohio? Isn’t it possible that multiple crimes were perpetrated against the 10-year-old in Indiana?
- It is illegal to transport a woman across state lines to cover up a sex crime via abortion, according to the Mann Act. Who transported her? 10-year-old girls don’t have driver’s licenses. Do you think the driver should be deemed a hero or a criminal if the purpose of the abortion was to cover up sex crimes?
- All medical procedures require informed consent by the patient. Minors are often considered emancipated in the area of reproductive health decision-making. Did this 10-year-old girl want an abortion? Isn’t it a crime to force someone, even a minor, to get an abortion? Is it not only abuse but illegal to force treatment on someone against their will?
- If the girl did want an abortion, were the risks and side effects of chemical abortion communicated to her, and if so, did she understand them? For example, does a 10-year-old understand what sepsis or hemorrhaging is? Was she tested for Rh factor to protect her future childbearing ability?
- If Ohio had kept abortion legal, would the perpetrator have been caught, and would Joe Biden have said anything?
