A representative for the Second Amendment Foundation explains why this is a move for the better, despite what some people may think.
With the debate surrounding safety in schools from “active shooters,” more states have begun adopting policies to allow teachers to concealed-carry, provided they meet the necessary criteria and receive the proper training. This week, Tennessee has been added to the list of states that support it.
A new law has been passed that would enable teachers to concealed-carry guns in schools, approximately one year following a tragic shooting at the Covenant School in Nashville, in which six people (including three students) were killed.
This now marks more than two-thirds of all U.S. states that allow teachers to carry, a measure that some argue won’t actually make schools safer. However, considering the rise of violent incidents, some states are following the “better safe than sorry” motif.
A spokesman for the Second Amendment Foundation joins us now to discuss this initiative further, and why it really is a move for the better.
