No, Netanyahu Isn’t the “Problem”

Former Mayor of Shiloh David Rubin discusses recent comments made about the Israeli Prime Minister – and why they miss the mark.

Over the past few months, several countries have had their criticism about Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, believing that his strategies against Iran and Hamas have been nothing short of dehumanizing. And this week, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen delivered some of the harshest criticism to date.

In a statement, she noted how “Netanyahu is now a problem in himself,” speaking with the Jyllands-Posten daily. She also discussed how the current government seems to be acting against the interests of the country, and how the current humanitarian situation in Gaza is nothing short of “absolutely appalling and catastrophic.”

She is currently trying to “increase pressure on Israel,” but admits that her country has yet to obtain “the support of EU members.”

But it leads to an interesting question. Why are some countries trying to act without seeing the bigger picture of what Netanyahu is trying to do? Is it easier to criticize his actions surrounding Gaza, without actually seeing what he’s trying to do better for Israel? Especially as of late, where he’s working with his military to safely evacuate citizens from the Gaza Strip before deeper conflict begins?

It just seems some countries are quick to act against Netanyahu because of their concerns. Even Frederiksen noted she was considering “political pressure, sanctions, whether against settlers, ministers or even Israel as a whole,” without getting all the information needed.

Joining us now to discuss this further is David Rubin, former mayor of Shiloh, Israel, and Founder of the Shiloh Israel Children’s Fund. Welcome, Mayor Rubin.

Q&A:

  1. First off, why do you believe so many, like Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, are so quick to accuse Netanyahu without having all the information necessary to move forward?
  2. Why does she believe that Netanyahu is a “problem” for Israel? Is this a poor classification considering the lack of information available to her?
  3. What do you think about Netanyahu moving citizens out of harm’s way on the Gaza Strip in an effort to gain leverage on Hamas? Do you believe it will be an effective plan?
  4. What about Netanyahu’s strategies long-term to eliminate Hamas? Do you believe they will finally take effect over the next few months?
  5. Tell us more about the Shiloh Israel Children’s Fund and how it can help those in need.
  6. Where can we learn more about you and the Shiloh Israel Children’s Fund?
