New Florida Constitutional-Carry Bill Unleashes Anti-Gun Lobby  Scare Tactics (Guest: Second Amendment Foundation)

A Second Amendment Foundation representative explains  movement for Constitutional-Carry.

Earlier this week, Florida House Speaker Paul Renner and several Republican leaders  began pushing a new bill to allow gun owners to carry firearms in the state without the need for a government permit.

While the bill is receiving major support from both key politicians and pro-gun advocates, it’s also got some negativity against itfrom Democrats saying  should the bill pass, it could likely make the state a target for more “mass shootings.” In fact, some have even pushed into “scare tactics” to make people unjustly concerned about the bill.

“I just don’t feel that’s a very responsible thing to do because training and safety should be No. 1 with all responsible gun owners,” said Rep. Christine Hunschofsky, a Parkland Democrat. “Untrained carry is what it is. You are not making our communities, our schools or any places safer with this.”

But is the argument against the bill justified? Joining us now is a representative from the Second Amendment Foundation, a group that firmly believes in the right of U.S. citizens to bear arms, as the Second Amendment of the Constitution firmly notes. Their knowledge in this matter will certainly be helpful.

Q&A:

  1. What do you think about Florida’s proposed Constitutional-Carry bill as a whole?
  2. Also, if passed, this would make Florida the 26th state in the United States to allow Constitutional-Carry. Tell us why you believe this is something that will help overall, especially when it comes to “active shooter” events.
  3. Can you address the concerns that the legislation would allow anyone to carry firearms without a background check?
  4. Once passed, what impact do you think it will have on Florida as a whole? Could we possibly see a drop in crime as a result?
  5. There are several Democrats and anti-gun advocates against the bill, even using “scare tactics” to get people concerned about it. Why do you think they’re using these?
  6. What do you think citizens as a whole can do to make their feelings known on the proposed bill?
  7. Where can we learn more about the Second Amendment Foundation and its members?
