MILLIONS OF NEW GUN OWNERS DUE TO COVID-19 AND GEORGE FLOYD RIOTS

Television interviews via Skype or Zoom with Alan Gottlieb.

Radio interviews by phone with choice of 4 guest spokesmen.

A gun-buying surge began with the COVID-19 pandemic panic and continued through the civil unrest and riots following the death of George Floyd while in Minneapolis police custody. The result? Millions of new gun owners. Here to discuss the surge of Americans exercising their 2nd Amendment rights is a spokesman from the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms.

Q&A:

  1. Are millions of people really becoming gun owners for the first time. If so, why?

Answer: Yes. Millions of Americans have suddenly decided to exercise their Second Amendment rights to keep and bear arms. We have witnessed something that is nothing short of a sea change, and in some cases might approach the level of epiphany, about gun ownership. We’ve heard anecdotal reports from all over the country about people flocking to gun shops who had never before owned a firearm. Now that they are gun owners, we expect them to be very protective of their rights.

  1. What are good indicators that this is occurring?

Answer: In March, April and May we saw record numbers of background checks, according to FBI data and information from industry sources. June data should be out within days, and we expect the trend to continue.

  1. Is this new trend limited to white Americans?

Answer: Americans of all races are buying guns to protect themselves and their loved ones. We welcome all of these new gun owners to the firearms community. Many are women in a wide age range. The 2nd Amendment is a large tent and newcomers are welcome.

  1. What about gun training—is this important?

Answer: Yes. The new gun owners can take advantage of training opportunities, meet new friends who share more interests than they might have suspected, and gain a new understanding of our efforts to protect the one fundamental right that actually protects all of the other rights. We’re not surprised to hear about new first-time gun buyers who have discovered how much enjoyment they get out of shooting. We’ve seen this with generations of new gun owners who may never have had any previous experience with firearms. Many of them discover a sense of empowerment that allows them, maybe for the first time, to understand they can take care of themselves, and that they are responsible for their own safety.

  1. How do you envision these millions of new gun owners will impact the elections?

Answer: This new wave of gun owners could become a formidable force. From now on, we expect millions of new gun owners to pay closer attention to candidates and reject those who would trample on their Second Amendment rights. With legions of new gun owners ready to protect these newly-discovered rights, it could be a pretty scrappy election year with lots of surprises.”

  1. Recently the U.S. Supreme Court refused to accept a Second Amendment case that was up for review. You blame Justice John Roberts for this. Why?

Answer: Justice John Roberts could have accepted at least one significant gun rights case had he wanted to. The Supreme Court has a cafeteria-style menu of cases from which to choose so there is no excuse for him to have thumbed his nose at the Heller Supreme Court decisions affirming the right to keep and bear arms.

  1. Can you give us some background on Heller case and also any remaining gun rights cases before the Supreme Court?

Answer: There is still one more case pending certiorari before the high court that was filed by our organization, The Second Amendment Foundation. It is known as Rodriguez v. San Jose, a firearms confiscation case out of the State of California.

  1. Moving away from Supreme court and an even higher court, the court of public opinion. Has Joe Biden has been exhibiting a bit of a double standard by pointing to the First Amendment rights of demonstrators while ignoring the Second Amendment rights of U.S. citizens?

Answer: Yes, if Joe Biden would open the Constitution, he would find the Second Amendment. It’s obvious President Trump has already read the Second Amendment, and that Biden and his Democrats wish the Second Amendment right to bare arms did not exist.

  1. Didn’t Joe Biden promise that if he wins the Presidency that he would put Beto O’Rourke in charge of his administration’s gun control policies?

Answer: Yes, indeed he did, and as we all recall, Beto O’Rourke promised adamantly during the Democrat Debates, “Hell, yes, we’re taking away your guns…”

  1. Does the U.S. Constitution grant the right to protect rioting and looting?

Answer: Of course not. Unlike Biden, the president understands that the First Amendment does not protect looting, vandalism, arson and felony assault disguised as legitimate protest. President Trump hasn’t been contributing to a bail fund project to get these criminals out of jail, as have members of Biden’s campaign staff, while Biden, himself, would like to see these people released without bail.

  1. How has Biden’s promise of releasing violent criminals without bond impacted gun sales?

Answer: It caused gun sales to boom because people need to protect themselves from criminals being released without bond. Biden’s staff is raising money to make sure violent protestors get out of jail free, presumably to do more mischief.

  1. What this say about Biden’s position on public safety if he were to win the top executive position in the land, charged with enforcing laws?

Answer: His campaign’s positions are a bad formula for public safety, but apparently Biden and his crew simply don’t get it on the campaign trail and will likely to continue to be willfully ignorant should he win in November.

  1.  Trump is talking about designating ANTIFA as a terrorist organization. Do you agree with that?

Answer: Yes, and when there are domestic terrorists in your neighborhood, you better be armed, especially when the Biden campaign is turning dangerous rioters loose on personal recognizance, maybe so they can go somewhere else and wreak havoc.

  1.  Where may we get more information on The Second Amendment Foundation
