Pro-Life NY CEO Guest on Mamdani Attack

Mamdani Bomb: Mayor’s New Enforcement Hire Triggers Legal Blast Radius for Pro-Life Pregnancy Centers

New York City may be facing historic budget strain, rising crime, and collapsing public trust—but NYC’s Muslim Mayor Zohran Mamdani appears to have found a new priority: escalating legal attacks on Christian pro-life pregnancy centers.

Order Jim Harden’s New Book, Endure the Rising Christian Persecution: For the Greater Reward

Rev. Jim Harden, CEO of CompassCare, is available for media interviews to explain why Mamdani’s latest move represents a dangerous new front in the war against religious freedom and medical ethics.

Mamdani has quietly appointed a former Planned Parenthood attorney to serve as Commissioner of the NYC Commission on Human Rights (CHR), an agency with sweeping investigative and prosecutorial power. This comes after New York Attorney General Letitia James already targeted pro-life centers with SLAPP-style lawsuits that failed to shut them down.

Harden warns that this is not coincidence—it’s strategy.

During his mayoral campaign, Mamdani pledged to “protect New Yorkers” from Christian pregnancy centers, falsely accusing them of deceiving women. His initial plan focused on enforcing NYC’s Rule 17 through consumer fraud statutes. But Harden argues that approach was legally flawed and embarrassing.

“You can’t accuse nonprofit medical professionals of consumer fraud when they provide free care,” Harden explains. “CompassCare isn’t selling anything. We’re not a business—we’re a charity.”

Now, Mamdani appears to be pivoting.

The NYC Civil Rights Code defines “sexual and reproductive health decisions”—including abortion—as protected civil rights. The CHR has authority to investigate, prosecute, and levy fines up to $250,000 per violation. Harden warns that Christian refusal to refer for abortions, provide abortions, or hire pro-abortion staff could be reframed as civil rights violations.

“This is where ideology becomes enforcement,” Harden says. “If refusing to perform or promote abortion is treated as discrimination, then Christian organizations become targets simply for existing.”

The threat extends beyond the city. New York’s Proposition 1 amended the state constitution to enshrine “reproductive decision-making” as a civil right, empowering state and city agencies alike. Governor Hochul and AG James have already launched the Empire State Freedom Initiative to seek out violations.

Harden is raising the alarm: unelected bureaucrats now have the power to investigate beliefs, prosecute conscience, and financially cripple religious nonprofits—all under the banner of civil rights.

“Time will tell whether Mayor Mamdani’s political inexperience and abortion zeal override basic judgment,” Harden says. “But New Yorkers should understand what’s at stake before the enforcement hammer falls.”

Rev. Jim Harden offers a clear, legally grounded, and compelling warning: this isn’t about consumer protection—it’s about weaponizing civil rights law to silence dissent.
