Just How Foolish Did the Late CCP Head Jian Zemin Make the Western World Look? (Guest: Nan Su)

The Epoch Times investigative reporter explains the motivation behind his latest editorial, which takes a look at the actions of the former CCP leader.

When someone passes, they usually leave behind some form of legacy over the course of their life’s work. But what happens when it’s actually based on something that could fool someone else?

That’s the basis Epoch Times investigative reporter Nan Su discusses in his latest editorial, titled China’s Deception Leader Jiang Zemin Died After Making Fool of Western World.

Following the demise of former Chinese Communist Party (CCP) leader Jiang Zemin, a number of Western media types praised him at the reform work that he’s done. However, according to Nan’s report, Zemin used a “combination of…deceptive maneuvers and the Western world’s wishful thinking,” leading to what he considers “the biggest threat to the free world today.”

Nan takes a closer look at key points that lead to the CCP being “the biggest threat to peace and humanity in history,” including total economic power, total military power, and a grasp on today’s modern technology.

He also explains a key point that came with Jiang’s move into Western media circles, with an interview by CBS anchor and host Mike Wallace back in 2000, in which he used Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg speech to his advantage, and speaking of a government “of the people, by the people, for the people.”

With us now to discuss his editorial even further is Nan Su, who specializes in covering all things China-related for The Epoch Times.

Q&A:

  1. What motivated you to write about Zemin? Were you trying to reflect just how easy it can be to fool today’s American media? Or was there something else in mind?
  2. What do you think about the face of American media as a whole? Is it truly an era where people will merely print anything for attention? Do you believe in-depth articles are losing their way?
  3. Out of everything that Zamin has done with the CCP, what would you say his most shocking action was?
  4. There has been a lot of talk about the CCP and their actions in the U.S. over the past few years, particularly with an arson incident in California that’s still under investigation. Do you believe they’ll continue to increase their presence in 2023?
  5. How does the global outlook appear for the CCP and Xi Jinping as a whole for the new year? We did see they recently partnered with Saudi Arabia, but who could be next?
  6. Where can people read this editorial, and learn more about your reports?

The editorial is available for reading here at the Epoch Times, and you can read more of my work here as well.
