Israel’s “Operation Shield and Arrow” Was a Success – But What Comes Next? (Guest: Avi Lipkin)

Author Avi Lipkin talks about the successful strike, and what comes next in Israel’s battle against terrorists.

Israel didn’t hold back when it came to the Islamic Jihad terrorists finding refuge in the Gaza Strip.

Earlier this week, it launched “Operation Shield and Arrow,” a tactical attack that sent daytime rocket attacks flying into the Gaza Strip. Though three foreign workers were injured and several Israeli citizens were startled by the attack, it was successful, resulting in the deaths of three senior terrorist leaders.

12 Palestinians were killed, with 20 more injured, from the attack, and several military compounds and command posts were also struck.

IDF Spokesperson Daniel Hagari said regarding the attacks, “This is about professionalism in planning and precision in execution that led to this operational achievement. This is planning with tweezers – in the heart of a civilian population – a targeted assassination in a multi-story building in a dense area, seconds between the impact, a very narrow time window, and at 2 a.m., all the buildings are attacked and the three operatives are killed.”

However, Hamas doesn’t appear to be backing down following the attacks. The group’s leader, Ismail Haniyeh, said in a follow-up statement, “Assassinating the leaders with a treacherous operation will not bring security to the occupier, but rather more resistance.”

So what happens now? Joining us to discuss this further is author Avi Lipkin, who has written such books as Is Fanatic Islam a Global Threat?, Christian Revival for Israel’s Survival, and Islamic Rivalry. He previously served as a former translator for the Israeli Prime Minister’s Government Press Office, so his expertise is certainly welcome here.

Q&A:

  1. First off, was “Operation Shield and Arrow” a necessary step in fighting back against Hamas? And, for that matter, did it help “turn the tide” in their favor, in any way?
  2. The situation has been rather heated lately in Israel. Where do you see this battle going in the months ahead?
  3. How do you see Hamas retaliating after losing three senior officers in the attack?
  4. Could protesting continue within Israel following the attacks? Does Netanyahu seem concerned about what’s happening with that?
  5. Tell us about the books that you’ve written, and how they relate so much with what’s happening within the world today.
  6. Where can people purchase these books if they’re interested?

They’re available to order via paperback and Kindle on Amazon.com.
