Israel Asks: What will Happen the Day After? (Gaza)

Intro: Israeli citizens are asking, “What will Happen the Day After?”

Our guest on this is topic is David Rubin, former mayor of Shiloah, Israel in Samaria, who is going to talk about Israel’s plans for Gaza when the fighting ends. We’re going to jump right in. Welcome Mayor Rubin.
Q&A/ Talking Points:
The fighting in Israel has been going on a while now. How long has it been so far and how much longer would you estimate it will continue?

Answer: We’ve been fighting in Gaza since the Hamas-perpetrated massacre of 1,200 Israelis on October 7, 2023, and it will likely continue a few more months.

A few more months?

Answer: Yes, several months, but the tasks are more focused now in three areas of Gaza, both above and below ground, and will be done so with pinpoint purpose and precision.

Wow! This war is quite a bit longer than expected. What ever happened to a Six-Day War?

Answer: Ah, Israel did indeed have a Six Day War on June 5, 1967, when Israel was attacked, yet achieved a miraculous victory in six days, and on the seventh day we rested.

There’s a rumor that a lot of Israeli reservists are being quietly told something. What’s that?

Answer: Although not officially, in some circles we are hearing that reservists are being told they can go home, but that they will be called back.

Can you give us an example of how future fighting will be focused?

Answer: The war will continue in the spring. You’ll see a shift toward the North and Lebanon, meaning Hezbollah, which is the main terrorist surrogate of Iran.

Now for the big question: What will happen in Gaza the day after the war ends?
Answer: Ah, the question of who will govern in Gaza. Conservative Israelis will say: Israel has to have total security control, and should also help many Gazans who want to emigrate, since more than half the buildings in Gaza have already been destroyed, but Liberals will say they want Gaza governed by a combination of non-Hamas Gazans and international forces.
Some might say that sounds fair. What could possibly be wrong with that?

Answer: There’s a lot wrong with that, starting with the fact that after the savage massacre on October 7th, Israel can only trust itself to ensure that terrorists will no longer be in Gaza. Furthermore, Gaza is a part of historical Israel and should be resettled by Israelis.

Tell us about Shiloh Israel Children’s fund, the charity you founded to heal the trauma of terror victim children in Israel.

Answer: I established it twenty years ago after my then three-year-old-son and I were wounded in a terror attack. We blend therapy and faith-based education to heal trauma. We use art, music, small animals, horses, and other forms of creative therapy to heal trauma in children.

Where may we get more information about your work at Israel Children’s Fund?

Answer: Go directly to www.IsraelChildren.org where you can find out how to partner with us.
