The former Mayor of Shiloh discusses the latest attacks by Israel, and if they will shift the war in a new direction.
The battle between Israel and Hamas may have reached a new turning point over the weekend.
Recently, Hezbollah launched what they believe is a “first phase” of a response over the death of a top commander. They launched hundreds of drones and rockets towards Israel.
In response, however, Israel has struck back by targeting a number of Hezbollah locations, effectively believing they have hit several rocket launchers in Lebanon.
But it’s the “first phase” phrasing that has some people concerned, as this could very well kick off a potential turning point in battle between the two. And considering that U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken recently visited to try and negotiate a peacefire between the two, that may likely not be happening.
Joining us now to discuss this further is David Rubin, former mayor of Shiloh, Israel, and Founder of the Shiloh Israel Children’s Fund. Welcome, Mayor Rubin.
Q&A:
- Do you think Hezbollah could be on the verge of launching a greater attack against Israel with its “first phase” phrasing?
- We’ve seen this battle continue on for nearly nine months now. Do you believe Israel is making any progress in attempting to “annihilate” Hamas forces?
- Is there any chance at this point for a ceasefire? Or will the battle likely deepen into something much more violent?
- Could the U.S. potentially try to negotiate a ceasefire, even with everything that’s happening? Blinken’s visit doesn’t appear to have made that much progress this past week.
- Where do you see the conflict between the two going in the months ahead?
