Is Now the Time To Close the Southern Border In An Effort To Slow Migrants and Stop Potential Terror Threats?

Law enforcement veteran Michael Letts discusses the possibility, though it doesn’t seem very likely given the Biden Administration’s way of thinking.

With so many migrants working their way into the country as of late and potential terror threats possibly leaking in from Hamas and other foreign countries, some believe that the best solution – at least at the moment – is closing the Southern border.

A few days ago, San Diego County Supervisor Jim Desmond hosted a press conference, noting, “It’s time to close the border to new immigration.” This comes shortly following FBI director Christopher Wray noting how Hamas soldiers and other terrorists could easily slip through the border.

Other local Republicans agreed with Desmond’s statement, and it’s likely several others across different states may feel the same way – especially with the thousands of migrants currently being shipped from state to state.

That said, the Customs and Border Protection (CBP), working under the Biden administration in the White House, doesn’t see such a threat, indicating in a statement to Fox News Digital that it “has seen no indication of Hamas-directed foreign fighters seeking to make entry into the United States.”

Joining us now to discuss this matter further is Michael Letts, a law enforcement veteran with over 30 years of experience under his belt. Letts is President, Founder and CEO of InVest USA, an organization that provides bulletproof vests to police officers through various charitable groups and sponsorships. His expertise is most certainly welcome in this matter.

Q&A:

  1. Do you agree with Desmond that a potential shutdown of the Southern border is the right answer to our current crisis? Or do you think another solution would work better?
  2. Even if there was enough approval of such a closure, could it possibly happen in this day and age? Wouldn’t migrants and potential terrorists just find a way across anyway?
  3. The Biden administration doesn’t even seem to be considering such a solution. How do you think they’ve been handling this migrant crisis, and, if not in the way you were hoping, what could they do to fix the problem?
  4. Where do you see the migrant crisis going in 2024? Could it potentially be a “hot topic” when it comes to the forthcoming Presidential election?
