Iran: “Nothing Has Changed”?

Former Mayor of Shiloh David Rubin discusses Iran’s potential return to conflict with Israel, and what Netanyahu should do next.

For a little while there, it almost appeared that U.S. President Donald Trump and his team might have found a deal with Iran to settle its conflict with Israel. However, that no longer appears to be the case, and it could pick up again rather quickly.

A new report from CNN reveals that Iran has already begun ramping up pressure on key points in the Middle East with its armed groups, and no deal has been reached between them and the United States to calm things down.

Michael Knights, who serves as senior fellow at the Washington Institute, noted, “Iran was never going to stop resupplying his groups. They might not be able to send this much regularly – more stuff might get intercepted – but if you’re the (Iranian) Revolutionary Guards’ Quds Force right now, what you’re trying to show is ‘we still exist, we’re intact, nothing has changed.’”

This comes just weeks after a calculated strike on several of Iran’s nuclear facilities by the United States, leaving many to wonder just how it will proceed with its next steps.

The real question is, however, if Trump will continue to try and make a deal, or if Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has something else in mind.

Joining us now to discuss this further is David Rubin, former mayor of Shiloh, Israel, and Founder of the Shiloh Israel Children’s Fund. Welcome, Mayor Rubin.

Q&A:

  1. Looking at everything that has happened, was a deal with Iran even possible at this point? Or was there always a fear they would return to conflict?
  2. Do you believe Trump and the United States will still try to find a way to make a deal with Iran, even with the threat of a return to conflict?
  3. How should Netanyahu react to all this? Should he simply take action with the IDF? Or is there a chance he will listen to the United States in any regard?
  4. What is the worst thing you believe Iran will attempt as it threatens to resume conflict?
  5. Where do you see the conflict between Israel and Iran (and for that matter, Hamas) going in the months ahead? Where does this ultimately end?
  6. Tell us more about the Shiloh Israel Children’s Fund and how it can help those in need.
  7. Where can we learn more about you and the Shiloh Israel Children’s Fund?
