Incident Involving Multiple Gunmen In Philadelphia Call For a Bigger Need For Constitutional-Carry (Guest: Second Amendment Spokesperson)

Violence ran rampant over the weekend in Philadelphia, with multiple gunmen taking place in a shooting that left three people dead and 11 other people injured.

The incident took place in the midst of a crowded downtown street Saturday evening, where several gunshots were heard and a lone gunmen began firing into a large crowd, according to a police report. Reports indicate that the shooting stemmed from some form of physical confrontation.

In a time when President Joe Biden is calling for a full-on gun ban, some believe that there may be the need for another solution – constitutional carry. This means that a person can legally own a firearm and can carry it in public, either visibly or concealed, at almost any time or place. With more people like this, it’s believed that mass shootings can be more quickly resolved without further loss of life.

To discuss this further, we’ve invited a spokesperson for the 2nd Amendment Foundation to provide us further perspective – and why constitutional-carry could be far more effective than any given gun ban.

Q&A

  1. What do you believe is the biggest problem with what President Joe Biden is attempting to do with banning assault rifles? The lack of effectiveness? The lack of resolve?
  2. You’ve spoken at great length about the need for constitutional-carry. How effective do you think this would be when it comes to containing active shooter scenarios?
  3. How would the selection process work with constitutional-carry, you believe? Perhaps ex-military? Ex-police? Obviously there would need to be some form of background check, correct?
  4. How do you think people are able to get their hands on assault rifles and extended magazines so easily? Would Biden’s proposed “gun ban” change that in the least, or perhaps make the situation even worse?
  5. Let’s say you were in charge of making the rules to slow the rate of growing mass shootings in the country. How would you go about it, and why?
  6. Where can we learn more about the Second Amendment Foundation and its members?
