Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker Just Called Out President Biden On His Lack of Action Surrounding the Border Crisis – But Will He Listen? (Guest: Kay Rubacek)

The producer and editor of the new Epoch TV documentary Gotaways discusses the Governor’s comments, and why Biden should listen.

With the ongoing crisis at the border that sees thousands of migrant make their way into the United States, it appears that the Biden administration is doing very little to take control of it. And this has apparently frustrated Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker to no end.

According to NBC News, Pritzker recently sent a letter to President Biden, calling him out for a “lack of intervention and coordination at the border,” which has since made the situation worse.

Pritzker addressed how the state’s resources went beyond their limits after Texas officials sent more than 15,000 migrants to Illinois over the past several months. “Unfortunately, the welcome and aid Illinois has been providing to these asylum seekers has not been matched with support by the federal government,” Pritzker noted. “Most critically, the federal government’s lack of intervention and coordination at the border has created an untenable situation for Illinois.”

The White House responded, with spokesperson Angelo Fernandez noting, “President Biden has repeatedly called on Congress to pass comprehensive immigration reform since his first day in office. Without the help of Congress, the Administration has been taking action: since May 12, we have removed or returned over a quarter million individuals.”

But even that doesn’t seem like enough, especially with the thousands coming into this country on a regular basis.

With us now to provide a perspective on what’s happening with the Border Crisis is Kay Rubacek, who serves as producer and editor for the Epoch TV documentary Gotaways. It takes a closer look at the crisis firsthand, showing how some migrants are able to sneak so easily into the United States. Her expertise will certainly provide weight to this subject.

Q&A:

  1. First off, do you think Pritzker has a point for calling out President Biden on not doing enough to control the ongoing Border Crisis?
  2. While the White House boasted that it has “removed or returned a quarter million individuals” at the Border, does that seem like a low number compared to the ones that make it into this country?
  3. How dire would you say the “border crisis” is at the moment? Could things get progressively worse going into 2024?
  4. Could we possibly see more migrants being shipped state to state as a “quickie” solution to the growing problem?
  5. What inspired you and director/producer Charlotte Cuthbertson to work with Epoch TV on Gotaways?
  6. We understand that Charlotte just won the Best First Time Director award for Gotaways at the Oniros New York Film Festival. What would you say about this accomplishment?
  7. Where can we learn more about Gotaways, as well as you in general?
