If a Recession Does Take Place, How Will It Affect the Big Business of the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Industry? (Guest: Kevin Stocklin)

The Shadow State producer Kevin Stocklin discusses the Epoch Times documentary and looks ahead to the possible effects of inflation and recession on the ESG movement in 2023.

Inflation and recession have been headline topics. But at the root of these economic issues is the agenda of the ESG movement: the concerted effort between governments and corporations to reduce production of fossil fuels and carbon emissions, including in sectors like farming and food production.

Corporations and governments are becoming increasingly aligned, forming a multi-trillion dollar power structure that, to this day, still grows. The past several years, however, saw the effects of this partnership come to light in terms of food and fuel shortages, record inflation and scandals such as the alleged collusion between Twitter and the FBI. How will ESG advocates, such as the World Economic Forum, change their approach given the increasing unpopularity and resistance to their agenda?

Looking ahead, could the ESG industry be a movement that provides cleaner air and a more equitable world? Or could it bring shortages and poverty and global conflict?

Here to discuss this further is Kevin Stocklin, a business reporter and film producer for The Epoch Times. His former Wall Street expertise has allowed him to create financial and political documentaries, including We All Fall Down: The American Mortgage Crisis. His latest work is The Shadow State, a new film that takes a closer look at the ESG industry and how it could affect the world.

Q&A:

  1. What motivated you to investigate the ESG industry? Was it a company in particular making moves, or was it simply the amount of money being accumulated by them?
  2. There are hypothetical questions as to whether the ESG industry could be good or bad for the people. What are the pros and cons of the ESG movement?
  3. How do you think inflation and a possible recession could affect the ESG industry? Could it be business as usual for them, or might they possibly make some moves to cope with the economic problems they are arguably responsible for?
  4. Do you see more governments getting involved with businesses to help the ESG grow? Or is it the other way around, where the businesses are the ones asking for assistance?
  5. Where can those interested learn more about you and watch The Shadow State?
