Hundreds More Arrested as Antisemitic Protests Turn Violent (Guest: Zack Kessel)

Police in riot gear stormed the Columbia University building where protestors barricaded themselves in. Dozens were arrested.

The two-week-old protest has turned into mayhem on campuses nationwide as other antisemitic student gatherings have sprung up, some turning violent. Many colleges have cancelled commencements and instituted remote classes – a throwback to the Covid days, which spoiled the high school graduations of many of these same seniors.

At Northwestern, the faculty caved to demands of the protesters – which included offering full-ride scholarships to Palestinians.

Meanwhile, President Joe Biden remains eerily silent on the violent, antisemitic protests.

Following these stories closely, National Review’s Zack Kessel has spent time on the Columbia University campus during the protests and has written on the trouble there and elsewhere as chaos erupts in our institutes of higher learning.

Zack joins us now to discuss the matter further.

Q&A:

1. What did you experience on the Columbia University campus?

2. Who is behind all of this? The students, or outside players?

3. You wrote on the deal made between students at your alma matter, Northwestern, and faculty. What can you tell us about that?

4. You explained in one article that a shocking majority of Palestinians support the horrific October 7attack on Israel. Given this, why would Northwestern agree to provide Palestinians full ride scholarships?

5. Why wouldn’t other groups seize ground at Northwestern and make similar demands?

6. Do we have any idea how many campuses are seeing these protests?

7. Is there any location where you feel they handled the protests well?

8. Some media are downplaying the harassment of Jewish students. What are you hearing?
