Sen. Nicole Mitchell Should Get the Same Treatment As She’s Given Gun Owners With Her Burglary Charge

A representative for the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms explains why fair is fair when it comes to a court of law.

Minnesota DFL Senator Nicole Mitchell is set to face a serious burglary charge in court on June 10th. And though some believe her political status may give her preferential treatment, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA) believes that she should be given the same treatment as she’s provided to gun owners in the past – as a criminal.

“Senator Mitchell has supported restrictive gun control measures as though she believes every gun owner is a potential criminal or crazy person,” said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb in a statement. “She supports restricting the rights of law-abiding Minnesota gun owners who have committed no crime, and she now stands accused of actually committing a felony. The irony here is staggering.

“Felony burglary is a serious offense,” he continued. “It’s the sort of thing for which someone might get justifiably shot by a legally-armed homeowner. It’s no wonder why she wants to disarm Minnesota residents.”

Gottlieb also addressed how Mitchell still has access to voting, which is questionable considering her act – and how an ethics investigation has yet to be completed.

“Shouldn’t that same standard apply to anyone disarmed by a red flag complaint,” he noted. “We haven’t seen the DFL raising due process concerns about mandating laws that infringe on people’s Second and Fourth Amendment rights.

“If Senator Mitchell deserves the benefit of doubt, so does every honest gun owner in Minnesota,” he said.

A representative for the CCRKBA (and Second Amendment Foundation) joins us now to discuss this matter further.

Q&A:

  1. Does it seem ironic that Mitchell is about to go to court after she’s treated so many private gun owners as criminals?
  2. Are you concerned that certain Minnesota State Democrats may try to make sure she gets preferential treatment in her case?
  3. Shouldn’t all criminals be treated equally before being found guilty, despite of their political stature?
  4. What does this example say about politicians always thinking they’re in the right when it comes to revoking the rights of citizens? A lesson to be learned here?
  5. Where can people call in to pledge their support to the CCRKBA?
    1. The number to support the group is (800) 699-0992.
  6. Where can we learn more about the CCRKBA and its members?
